Live longer – Give Blood

Tim Ferris author of the four hour body has a fantastic chapter on Living forever.

For me most of the tips in this chapter will require to much self control or seem a little too unnatural for me to justify.

However one of them, makes perfect sense and is also a great way to help others.

Give blood

Excess Iron in our blood is believed to be one of the main contributing factors to why women live longer than men. Women regularly get rid of excess Iron when they menstruate. Men don’t have this mechanism.

Modern diets and also nutritional supplements have excessive Iron. Amongst other things large amounts of iron helps to produce the following:

  • Free radicals require iron- Free radicals are what damage our cells, this cell damage can lead to cancer, and also ageing. So minimising this damage is important, this is what antioxidants do.
  • Bacteria and parasites thrive off our Iron.

By giving blood, we can regularly remove excess iron from our system and also many more toxins that build up in our system. It will also give your body a healthy challenge to create new blood and balance your body appropriately.

If it works great. Your slowed down the ageing process and reduced your risk of fatal illness. If it doesn’t well you’ve given blood which is a very nice thing. Win Win.

If you want to read more on this I suggest you guy the four hour body and read the following article:
