Testing and Progression

Progression is the key to training any client successfully. 

If your clients are making progress towards their goals they will be happy.

This is why testing your clients on a regular bases every 4-6 weeks is important.

Testing is great fun and motivating. I recommend the following tests:

  • Circumferences
  • Body fat percentage
  • Weight
  • 1km row
  • 1km run or 1.5-mile run test
  • Press-up max
  • Sit-up max
  • Heart rate recovery – step test
  • Flexibility
  • Lung function
  • Plank max
  • Agility
  • Blood pressure
  • Resting heart rate

When someone asks me what is the main benefit of having a personal trainer, I say ‘progression towards your goals’.
